7th Annual SV5K Race

The Chapel Hill Service League has announced the details of their 7th Annual Southern Village 5k and Family Fun Run, which will take place this year on Sunday, December 12th. The Southern Village 5k Run is a USAT&F-certified race and one-mile fun run/walk suitable for all ages and running abilities.

The challenging but fun race takes place in Southern Village in Chapel Hill, beginning and ending in the Market Street retail district. The race brings together people of all ages, backgrounds, sizes, and fitness experiences. Join families, couples, parents pushing their baby joggers, young and experienced runners, their families and spectators for an afternoon of festivities and fun on Market Street in Southern Village.

The 5k will begin at 2:00 p.m. at Market Street in Southern Village and the one mile Family Fun Run/Walk will take place at 3:00 p.m. Both races start and finish by the Weaver Street Market in Southern Village.

All proceeds from this event support the Chapel Hill Service League, including the League's signature project, Christmas House, which has provided gifts, books and coats to needy families in Chapel Hill and Carrboro for more than 50 years and serves on average, 800 children each year. Harrington Bank is a proud sponsor of The Southern Village 5k that has been held for the last six years and has raised almost $100,000 for charity.

Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in 6 different age divisions. Activities and entertainment are part of the family fun day.
