Privacy Principles | Internet Privacy Notice

The basis of any relationship is trust, and, at Harrington Bank we firmly believe your privacy should never be compromised. You have entrusted us with your business, and we take pride in honoring that pledge. We will continue to offer you the wide array of financial products and services necessary for you to achieve your financial goals, and we will do so in a highly confidential manner. Please review the following information as it pertains to your relationship.

Meaning of some words in this notice:

"You" and "your" mean an individual (a person; not a business operator, corporation, partnership or trust, for example) who applies for or receives a financial product or service with us for personal, family, or household purposes.

"We", "our," and "us" mean Harrington Bank, FSB.

"Nonpublic personal information" means information about you that we obtain because you apply for or receive a financial product or service from us and that is not publicly available.

WE ARE COMMITTED TO PROTECTING YOUR PRIVACY

At Harrington Bank, we believe protecting the confidentiality and security of customer information is one of our most important obligations. You trust us with your personal and financial information, and we’ll honor that trust by handling your information carefully and responsibly. Your privacy is protected by federal law but also, more importantly, by our long-standing commitment to you.

WE ONLY COLLECT INFORMATION THAT IS NEEDED TO SERVICE YOUR ACCOUNT OR TO ADMINISTER OUR BUSINESS

Depending on your account relationship with us, we may collect information about you from a variety of sources, including:

  • Information you provide directly to us on applications or forms, such as your income and accounts.
  • Information about your transactions with Harrington Bank or our affiliates.
  • Information we receive from an outside company, such as credit bureau, providing your credit history or employment verification.

WE HAVE STRICT CONTROLS IN PLACE TO PROTECT THE CONFIDENTIALITY AND SECURITY OF YOUR INFORMATION

Harrington Bank maintains appropriate security practices and procedures designed to prevent unauthorized access to confidential information about you. We have internal controls to limit access to information about our customers or former customers to those authorized employees who need the information to service or administer your account. Employees are educated on their responsibility for safeguarding the confidentiality of each customer’s information.

WE ONLY RELEASE INFORMATION FOR LEGITIMATE BUSINESS REASONS

Occasionally we may contract with an outside firm to perform services on your behalf, such as assisting us with marketing Harrington Bank products. We may also have an agreement with another financial institution to jointly market a product with them such as a credit card. In either case, we may release limited information such as your name, address, and account relationship with Harrington to the outside party. All such recipients of customer information are contractually bound to keep the information confidential and are prohibited from using the information for any purpose other than what we specify. In addition, we may share certain information about you with our affiliates as permitted by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Harrington Bank does not otherwise release any nonpublic personal information about our customers or former customers to anyone, except as required or permitted by law.

INTERNET PRIVACY NOTICE

Personal Information Collected
Our website does not collect personal identifying information about you except when specifically and knowingly provided by you. Once you have provided personal identifying information, it will be used for the purpose as described at the point of data collection. All such information will then be subject to the provisions of our Privacy Notice.

General Information Collected
For each visitor to our web pages, our web server automatically recognizes a user's software information, such as domain name (i.e. aol.com, msn.com), browser and operating system without identifying the user. We also aggregate information on these visits to our site that tells us such things as: how many visitors we had, what sites they came from, which of our pages they visited, how long they stayed at each site, and the total time of their visits.

The general information we collect is used to analyze and improve the content of our site. It is not shared with other organizations for commercial purposes.

If you send us email, your return address will be displayed in the header we receive. We will use this information to respond to your inquiry and we will keep your message as a record of our contacts. We will not share that information with outside companies or agencies unless it is necessary for us to do so in order to respond to your email or carry out a request therein, or unless we are required to so by law or court order.

Cookie Technology
A cookie is a piece of data given to a browser by a web server. We set a cookie each time you log onto Harrington Online Banking. This cookie is merely an anonymous number that identifies the user's session. It does not store any personally-identifiable information. We only use cookie technology to strengthen banking security in the following way:

While you are connected to the Harrington Online Banking site, the cookie is constantly monitored to ensure that we are communicating with the machine that logged in. If this cookie connection is interrupted (as may occur if an intruder intercepts your information), Harrington Online Banking will cancel the connection. Although the cookie may remain on your hard drive after you have completed your session, the cookie expires and stops collecting information when you properly exit or time out of Harrington Online Banking. This prevents someone else from using the same computer to access your session. When you log onto Harrington Online Banking the next time, the old cookie will be replaced by a new cookie. At the end of any session, you may remove this cookie without affecting your future sessions.

Children's Online Privacy
Because we have no way of distinguishing the age of individuals who access our website, we collect the same general information we collect from any website user as well as personally-identifiable information from individuals under the age of 14 if they provide it. If such information is received via email, we will respond to the communication as warranted but only retain the information in accordance with our general information collection policy. If an individual under the age of 18 provides us with personally-identifiable information through an internet account application, the application will be declined and all related information would only be maintained as required or allowed by law.

We are not responsible for the content or the privacy policies of websites to which we may provide links. We do not endorse, certify, or validate the content of any third party website. These links are provided for informational use only and users of our website are cautioned to use appropriate judgment when following a link to any third party website.

Changes To This Internet Privacy Notice
We reserve the right to introduce new services or practices that may require a change to the provisions of this notice. We are committed to updating our Internet Privacy Notice promptly to keep you informed on how we use information you give us.
